About Stacy
Stacy TenHouten’s coaching program for healing intimacy issues is rooted in her extensive experience in trauma-informed yoga, somatic healing, and integrative coaching. With over 30 years of practice, Stacy has trained under leading experts in the field, earning her Trauma-Informed Yoga Certification from Kyra Haglund and Hala Khouri. Her approach is deeply compassionate and personalized, helping individuals navigate the complexities of intimacy, trust, and emotional connection. Drawing from her background in addiction recovery, post-incarceration care, and healing sexual trauma, Stacy’s work is uniquely suited for those seeking to break free from the patterns of fear, avoidance, and disconnection that trauma often imprints on relationships.
Stacy’s program is designed to gently guide clients toward greater self-awareness, nervous system regulation, and embodied healing. Through somatic practices, yoga, and dreamwork, she helps individuals cultivate a deeper sense of safety in their bodies, allowing them to develop authentic, sustainable intimacy in their relationships. Stacy was the co-facilitator of Yoga and Dream Lab with Dr. Mercedes Gertz, where she incorporated Jungian-informed dream exploration to help clients uncover subconscious blocks to intimacy and connection. Her trauma-sensitive framework creates a safe space for individuals to process past wounds, rewire limiting beliefs, and step into relationships with greater confidence, presence, and trust.

Intimacy healing addresses the deep connections between trauma, bodily awareness, and our capacity for vulnerability and connection. As an integrative healer and coach. I offer a complementary approach to traditional mental health services. My work incorporates dreamwork, movement, creativity, and somatic awareness to help access and release trauma stored in the body that may be blocking your natural capacity for intimacy. This work happens on multiple levels—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual—creating a holistic path toward transformation.
-
Not at all. While I do work with individuals who have experienced significant trauma, many of my clients simply feel disconnected from themselves or their partners, experience blocks in vulnerability, or sense a lack of fulfillment in their relationships. The body stores all experiences—even subtle ones—and these can impact our capacity for intimacy. My work is appropriate for anyone seeking deeper connection, regardless of their history.
-
Absolutely. Intimacy healing begins with your relationship to yourself. Many clients find that working on self-intimacy—the ability to be authentic, vulnerable, and present with themselves—creates the foundation for healthier relationships when they do connect with others. Single individuals often find this work particularly valuable during transitional periods in life.

Each session is uniquely tailored to your needs, but generally includes:
An initial check-in to identify what you're experiencing
Guided somatic awareness practices to connect with your body
Exploration of dreams, sensations, or patterns relevant to your intimacy challenges
Integration of insights through movement, creativity, or ritual
Practical tools to continue the work between sessions
-
Dreams speak the language of our unconscious mind, often revealing relationship patterns, fears, desires, and blocks that we may not be consciously aware of. By working with dream imagery and connecting it to bodily sensations, we can access deeper layers of understanding about what might be blocking your capacity for intimacy. Dreams provide a rich, symbolic language that can bypass our intellectual defenses and reveal core truths about our relationship to intimacy.
-
Discomfort and emotion are natural parts of the healing process. I create a safe, supportive environment where all feelings are welcomed as important messengers. You always have complete agency during our sessions—we move at your pace, and you're never required to explore anything that feels too overwhelming. Learning to be present with uncomfortable sensations (within a manageable window) is actually part of developing greater capacity for intimacy.
-
Yes, sexual intimacy can be part of our work together if it's relevant to your goals. Many clients find that blocks in sexual expression are connected to deeper patterns of disconnection from the body or unprocessed life experiences. I approach these topics with respect, professionalism, and an understanding of the complex factors that influence our sexual well-being. However, it's important to note that this work is educational and supportive in nature rather than clinical. For sexual dysfunction or other clinical concerns, I recommend consulting with a licensed sex therapist or healthcare provider.
